Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I have my bins regularly cleaned and disinfected?

It practices good hygiene and helps to protect your family and employees from the sickness causing germs that are continually breeding in and on your bins. It also helps to keep creepy crawlies and disease carrying rodents away, and to finish off it keeps your bins smelling fresh and fragrant.

Why should I use EcoClean Bins to professionally clean my bins?

Put simply, so you don’t have to!

Our research tells us that people want clean bins, and understand the importance of having clean bins, but when it comes to cleaning them it is the last thing they want to do, and if they do it is more than likely a half-baked effort with the garden hose, which does nothing more than leave a mess on the driveway and possible run-off contamination into our drains and waterways. We are in the bin cleaning business and committed to offering a professional service at affordable prices while keeping our environment safe, and in doing so leaving you with one less dirty job to do.

Does my recycling bin & green waste bin need cleaning as well?

We do recommend that these bins are also cleaned regularly. While a recycling bin won’t get as dirty or have that disgusting putrid smell you get from a general waste bin, spillage from disposed beer, wine and soft drink bottles and cans will start to smell and attract creepy crawlies if not cleaned up. Green waste, especially damp green waste can really stink and even smell like sewerage after a while, and remember all bins are a breeding ground for bacteria if not kept clean.

How often should I have my bins cleaned?

Everyone has a different requirement and budget, so there is no definitive answer when it comes to this question. And while we have a variety of services to choose from ie. Fortnightly, Monthly, Quarterly or As Needed, in order to keep your bins clean, fresh and fragrant we recommend as a minimum, our monthly service for residential customers and our fortnightly service for commercial customers.

What sizes and types of bins do you clean?

We clean 2 wheeled and 4 wheeled plastic bins in sizes that range from 60 litres up to 1100 litres. If you are unsure about your bin size or type, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will happily help you with your enquiry.

Does EcoClean Bins use harsh or hazardous chemicals to clean my bins?

We don’t use any chemicals in our cleaning process, we use a food safe disinfectant cleaner that is boosted by the natural antibacterial and anti-fungal power of pure Australian lemon myrtle oil. Our disinfectant cleaner is family, pet and earth safe but still has the power to kill 99.99% of sickness causing germs.

When are my bins cleaned & do I need to be in attendance?

If your bins are emptied before 12pm on your collection day then we will usually clean them the same day. If they are emptied after 12pm then we will usually clean them asap the next day. There is no need for you to be in attendance when we clean your bins, just remember to leave them out and empty until we have completed the service.

How much does it cost to have my bins cleaned?

How are my bins cleaned & how long does it take?

Using the purpose built cleaning unit mounted on the back of our vehicle, we apply high pressure water and environmentally friendly disinfectant cleaner to your bins (some scrubbing may be required on really dirty bins). We carry our own recycled and filtered water supply to wash your bins so we don’t need anything from you to carry out the service, except for your dirty bins. To finish off we then dry your bins inside and out. On our scheduled services the cleaning process usually takes 8-12 minutes for a 2 wheeled bin and 20-30 minutes for a 4 wheeled bin. A first scheduled service or an As Needed service may take considerably longer to complete as the majority of these bins have never been cleaned.

How do you dispose of any waste accumulated through your cleaning process?

We have a Trade Waste Discharge Agreement with the local authorities, and inline with this agreement we discharge our waste water as required at their discharge facility.

Is EcoClean Bins a registered business and are you insured to clean our bins?

Yes, we are a registered business and are fully insured to clean your bins.

What if I forget to put my bins out on my scheduled service day?

If our operator has attended the service address to clean your bins as scheduled, but cannot due to the bins not being put out, we may at our sole and absolute discretion charge you for that service visit. But in saying that we will look at each case as it happens and take into consideration the affect it has had on our days scheduling, as well as the cost to us for the operators visit. Usually if it’s a one-off oversight we will in most cases reschedule your service at no charge. Repeat offenders will be charged for the service visit.

How do I book and pay?

If you book through our website using the online Booking Form, we will email you a tax invoice in which you can pay by clicking the ‘Pay Now’ button which will take you to a payment gateway where you simply enter your Credit/Debit card details. If you don’t have access to an email address you can contact us on 0407 166 201  to book and make payment, please note you will need a Debit or Credit Card for phone payments. Payment is due 5 days after the service date, unless otherwise arranged with EcoClean Bins and stated as such on the tax invoice.
